Mrs. L.P. Nelson Died Saturday

Mrs. Lars P. Nelson, whose serious illness was noted last week, passed away at 1:40 last Saturday morning of dropsy and heart trouble. Everything had been done for her that human hands and skill could do but her life could not be saved. She was taken to Mayo Bros. at Rochester, Minn., during her long illness and they pronounced the trouble dropsy and gave the family little hope of recovery.

The funeral was held at the Danish church at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon. Rev, N.P. Lang, Rev. A. Rasmussen and Rev. A. Theo. Schultz officiating. Rev. Mr. Lang spoke in English and the other two in Danish.

The flowers were unusually lavish and beautiful, and attendance at the church was large, showing something of the high esteem in which Mrs. Nelson was held.

Anna Christine Knudsen was born at Fyn, Denmark, October 25th, 1863, and was therefore, not yet 59 years of age. She came to America in May of 1883, having been married to Lars P. Nelson in March of that year. They settled at Fremont, coming to Blair in 1895, which has been her home since that time.

Besides her husband she leaves four sons, O.J. Nelson, of Elgrade, Neb., E.M. Nelson, of Leigh, Neb., L.C. and A.E. Nelson, of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. P.J. Paulsen. Also an adopted daughter, Rena Jensen. She leaves one brother, K.E. Knudsen, of Genoa, Neb. All of the children were present when the end came and for the funeral service.

Mrs. Nelson realized that she couldn’t get well and was ready to go, having a faithful and consistent Christian life, being a member of the Danish church.

The following lines were written by her son:

Now our mother has gone away Up to Jesus there to stay; We will miss her loving care But she’ll not suffer while she’s there We love our father We love them all, But we loved our mother, dear, We had no right to keep her here; Our God in Heaven wanted all She said to us “I hear His call,” To leave this life she had no fear; But we’ll be with you, mother dear. A SON.

CARD OF THANKS

We take this means of thanking our friends for their service, their kindness and their beautiful floral offerings during the illness and after the death of our beloved wife and mother. We thank the choir for their beautiful songs, the ministers for their sermons and their words of cheer in our time of sorrow and we further wish to thank the Chamber of Commerce, city officials and other friends for their service and kindness shown to us at this time.
