Mrs. Peter Kruger Nelson Headed Four-Generation Family of 74

Rites Held At First Lutheran Church

Mrs. Peter Krueger Nelson, 89, head of a four-generation family numbering 74 members, died at Lutheran Good Shepherd Home in Blair late Friday night. She had resided at the home the past three years.

Mrs. Nelson, born in Langeland, Denmark, on May 23, 1868, had come to the United States as a girl four years of age, and had since resided in this area.

The body was taken to the Bendorf Funeral Home. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. H.C. Jorgensen officiating. Burial was in Blair Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Ralph Kuhr, L.W. Svendgaard, Jack Kuhr, Clifford Hansen, James and Russell Woodard.

Mrs. Nelson, who was Bertha Rasmussen by birth, was married to Peter Krajgaard Nelson on Oct. 25, 1887. They farmed near Blair many years, and Mr. Nelson’s death occurred in 1928. Later Mrs. Nelson lived at 203 West South St. in Blair for a number of years.

Surviving Mrs. Nelson are two sons, Hans K. Nelson of Omaha and George K. Nelson of Tekamah; and six daughters, Mrs. Herman Kuhr (Hanna), Mrs. H.P.M. Hansen (Annie), Mrs. Howard E. Woodard (Helen) and Mrs. Thomas Wilkinson (Claire) all of Blair, Mrs. Harland Jensen (Eleanor) of Sioux City and Mrs. Roscoe Rosenbaum (Alvina) of Fremont. A son, Albert, died when 12 years old.

Other survivors include 26 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Chris Rasmussen of Winner, S.D., Olaf and Henry Rasmussen of Presho, S.D.; and three sisters, Mrs. John Smith, Mrs. Anna Jorgensen and Miss Leona Rasmussen, all of Presho.

Mrs. P. K. Nelson Buried Monday

Mrs. P. K. Nelson, well known Blair woman, passed away last Friday, September 27th at the Good Shepherd Home where she has made her home for the past three years. She was 89 years old.

Bertha Rasmussen was born in Langeland, Denmark, May 23rd, 1868.

She came to the United States at the age of 4 and lived near Omaha.

On October 25, 1887 she married Peter Krojgaard Nelson who preceded her in death in 1928.

They were the parents of nine children: Mrs. Herman Kuhr (Hanna), Mrs. H.P.M. Hansen (Annie), Mrs. H.E. Woodard (Helen), Mrs. Thomas Wilkinson (Claire), all of Blair, Hans K. of Omaha; Mrs. Harland Jensen (Eleanor) of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Roscoe Rosenbaum (Alvina) of Fremont and George K. of Tekamah. One son, Albert died at the age of 12.

She is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, Chris Rasmussen, of Winner, South Dakota; Olaf and Henry Rasmussen, Mrs. John Smith, Mrs. Anna Jorgensen and Miss Leona Rasmussen, all of Presho, South Dakota.

There are 26 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held at First Lutheran Church Monday, September 30*, with the Rev. H.C. Jorgensen officiating. David Svendgaard, a great grandson, was soloist at the services.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Clifford Hansen, Russell and James Woodard, Woodrow Svendgaard, and Ralph and Jack Kuhr.

Burial, directed by the Bendorf Funeral Home, was made in the Blair Cemetery.
