Mr. Nelson, 80, Succumbs; Ex-Official

C. John Nelson, Ex-Comissioner, Dead; Rites Set For Friday

C. John Nelson, 80, onetime Washington County commissioner from the Blair district, died at his home in Fremont yesterday. He was the father of the late County Judge Albae H. Nelson.

Funeral services, with the Campbell Mortuary in charge of arrangements, will be held at the mortuary Friday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Blair Cemetery.

Charles John Nelson was born in Omaha Jan. 6, 1868, and came to Washington County as a small child. He remained in this county the rest of his life, except for three and a half years he spent in Fremont with his younger daughter, Alta.

Mr. Nelson and Miss Martha Elizabeth Sutton were married Apr. 5 1893. To then were born four children. Mrs. Nelson died in 1940 and the son, Albae H., in 1944.

Mr. Nelson was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Hopkins of Tracy, Calif., formerly of Blair and Miss Alta M. Nelson of Fremont; and one son, George W. Nelson of Blair.

C. John Nelson Rites Friday

C. John Nelson died Wednesday morning, July 28th at the home of his daughter, Miss Alta Nelson in Fremont. He was born January 6, 1868 in Omaha.

In his early life his parents moved to this county and when he had gained his maturity he became a farmer which he followed through all his years of activity.

He was a man of intelligence and his integrity was never questioned. He served as county commissioner for a term of four years.

His wife preceded him in death several years ago but he continued on the farm until a few years ago when he turned the business over to his son.

Of the living children, George is on the farm, one daughter, Alta is a nurse and located in Fremont and another daughter, Mrs. Oscar Hopkins is located in California.

One son Judge Albae Nelson died a few years ago. Several grand-children are also left to mourn his death.

Funeral services will be held in Blair Friday under the supervision of the Campbell Mortuary at 2 p.m. and interment will be made in the Blair Cemetery.
