Doretta E. Nelson, 92

Kennard native Doretta E. Nelson, 92, or Fremont, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in Fremont’s Memorial Cemetery.

Doretta E. Arp was born June 18, 1917 in Kennard to Fritz and Emma (Wulburn) Arp. She was raised in Washington County.

On Aug. 31, 1952, she married Glen A. Nelson in Oakland. Mrs. Nelson lived her entire married life on a farm near Oakland and then moved to Fremont in 1975.

She volunteered for the Fremont Area Medical Center and the Chamber of Commerce. She also worked at Arbor Manor in Fremont for four years.

She was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Fremont, the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women, and the Altar Guild.

She is survived her son, Richard G. Nelson of Cozad; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Lorna Arp of Kennard; sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Vernon Keffenberger of Fenton, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, in June 1975; brothers, John and Albert Arp; and sister, Edna Behrens.

Memorials are suggested to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
