JOSEPH NOVAK FUNERAL HELD

LONGTIME BLAIRITE, 90, DIED FRIDAY; CAME HERE FROM POLAND IN 1886

Joseph Novak, 90, who came here from his native Poland as a young man, died Friday at the home of his son, Walter. The body was taken to the Bendorf Funeral Home, where rites were held Sunday afternoon, the Rev. H.C. Jorgensen officiating. Burial followed in Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Novak was born in Poland Mar. 5, 1863, and grew to manhood there. As a young man he decided to come to America, and arrived in Blair in the spring of 1886. In 1894 he was married to Louise Borup, youngest daughter of Nick Borup, and they farmed in the McCarthy neighborhood south of Blair. Mrs. Novak died July 13, 1903.

Surviving Mr. Novak are two sons, Walter Novak of Blair and Pete Novak of Beatrice; a grandson, Ralph Novak; and a great-grandson, Ronald Novak.
