DeLores M. Tedrow, 81, of Kennard, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Church of the Nazarene in Fremont. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Crescent (Iowa) Township Cemetery.

Visitation began Monday at Moser Memorial Home in Fremont and will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.

DeLores M. Tedrow was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Boone, Iowa. She grew up in Boone and attended Boone High School.

On May 21, 1947, she married Nate L. Tedrow Sr. at the Valley Methodist Church in Valley.

The couple moved to Valley and lived there until moving to Fremont in 1950. In 1967 they moved to Spiker and then returned to Fremont in 1976.

She worked as a cosmetologist for several years, and then was employed by J. C. Penney’s and other retail stores in Fremont. She took care of the elderly and ill for 16 years in their homes.

Due to failing health, Mr. and Mrs. Tedrow moved to Kennard in August of 2004, where they lived with their daughter and son-in-law.

Mrs. Tedrow was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Fremont, and former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, where she served on the Evangelism Explosion team; was chairwoman for social ministries for many years; and was active in Bible study.

She loved to embroider and paint, and had done more than 30 projects in the past six years. She loved entertaining, until her illness prevented her from doing so. She took an active interest in her family and spent several years caring for four of her grandchildren. She loved to travel, and had been to Spain, Italy, Canada, and Mexico, but most loved the North Shore of Minnesota and the Black Hills of South Dakota. The couple traveled to many states, and took an Alaskan cruise for their 50th anniversary. Mrs. Tedrow also loved trees and Lake Superior.

She is survived by her husband, Nate L. Tedrow Sr. of Kennard; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Howard Kofoed of Kennard; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael A. and Sandra Stokka of Mankato, Minn., and Nate L. Tedrow Jr. of Omaha; cousins, Elaine Wheelock of Boone, Iowa, and Sandra Crandell of Lamoni, Iowa; 11 grandchildren: Marvin and Monica Dickerson, Meredith Lockard, Chris and Jon Tedrow, Shari Nordholm, Julie Reitz, Michelle Rieff, and Sarah, Katy and Michaela Stokka; 16 great-grandchildren: Mykaela and Nicole Dickerson, Andrew and Aaron Ohlsen, Heather Erdmann, Kathryn and Jack Lockard, Taelyn and Izabel Tedrow , Hunter and Conner Nordholm, Tyler, Kelsey and Kailey Reita, and Mckenzie and Parker Rieff; one great-great-grandchild; Ryan Reitz.

She was preceded in death by her father, Darwin Jackson and mother, Kathryn Pederson Tighe.

Visitation Tues. at Church 1 hour prior to Service. Burial 1 PM Tues. at Crescent Township Cemetery, Crescent, IA. Memorials may be given to the family.
