GRANDMA TEPIER DEAD

After suffering for the past several days with a severe case of congestion of the lungs, Grandma Tepier died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Parish on South street, Wednesday morning.

Phoebe J. Standish was born in Vermont, September 13, 1830, and was married to Edwin Tepier in New York state at the age of 14 years. Two daughters were born to them, Ann, who later married A. H. Parish and Jane, who married J. D. Parish, and who passed away in 1880 while a resident of Filmore county, Nebraska. In 1870 Mr. and Mrs. Tepier came to Nebraska, settling first in this city. Later they moved to Filmore county, where they remained about ten years and then returned to Blair. About twenty years ago Mr. Tepier died, since which time Grandma has made her home with Mrs. Parish.

The funeral will be held from the Methodist church Friday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. Lang officiating.

Mrs. Tepier was a sturdy type of womanhood with a strong and active mind and retained her faculties until the very end, admonishing those around her to not grieve for her departure for she felt that she was going to a better home and would meet those who had gone before her. She was ready and had lived a life that held no regrets; she had performed her work on this earth and her 82 years had left her frail and weak and tired, and ready to sink into that sleep that knows no waking.

Those who knew the kind old soul best, knew her only to love her and admire her wonderful energies - - and in her passing the relatives have lost a character that is well to emulate. She had a wonderful memory for dates and events and her stories of the early times when she was a girl have been a source of much pleasure to all who knew her. Hers was the spirit of the true pioneers and we mourn with those whom she left behind.
