Emma Inger Marie Nelson, 94

Services for Emma Inger Marie Nelson, 94, formerly of Omaha will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 19 at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with burial in the Blair Cemetery. She had resided in Des Plaines, Illinois for the past four years with her niece, Carolyn Simmons and died there September 15, 1995.

Emma Nelson was born April 18, 1901 in rural Blair to Martin Peter and Laura Laursen Nelson. She attended Sutherland Elementary School and graduated from Blair High School.

She worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a treasury clerk for 37 years.

She was past president and member of the National Association of Railway Business Women and a charter member of the Danish Brotherhood of America, Lodge No 1.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edwin and Laurits and a sister, Ida Nelson.

She is survived by her niece and her husband, Carolyn and Patrick Simmons of Des Plaines; a nephew, Edwin and Karen Nelson of Sioux City, Iowa; two grandnephews, Mark and his wife, Mary Schoor of Wauconda, Illinois and Michael Schorr of Blair; four grandnieces and their husbands, Sandra and Mike Dorenski of Hayward, Wisconsin; Sheryl and Brent Bjornson of Barrington, Illinois; Kristin and Leslie Nelson of Charlotte, North Carolina and great-grand-nephews and nieces, Amy John and Tom Bjornson and Alexandra Schorr.

Memorials may be directed to the Des Plaines Community Foundation or Maine Center for Mental Health.
