SERVICES HELD FOR LEATRICE M. TEETERS

Leatrice M. Teeters, age 66, of Tekamah, passed away early on Sunday morning, July 10th, 1988 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska after a lengthy illness.

“Lea” was born on April 15th, 1922 at Little Rock, Arkansas to Henry C. and Ruth Ann (Reeves) Mills. She was married to James B. Teeters on April 2nd, 1976. In earlier years Lea worked as a cook at Six-R School and also at the Tekamah Nursing Center. She also worked for a time for Wilkinson Mfg. at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska and Meals On Wheels.

She was a member of Magnolia Rebekah Lodge No. 94 and the V.F.W. Auxiliary, both at Tekamah. At the time of her death, Lea was a member of the First Baptist Church at Tekamah and she was a former member of the Riverside Baptist Church north of Tekamah. She was active in Church Circles in both congregations.

Survivors include her husband, James B. Teeters of Tekamah; two sons: Howard L. Goertz of Tekamah and Ernest E. (Gene) Goertz of St. Peters, Missouri; two daughters: Ruth Ann Griffen of Okeechobee, Florida and Mary Fay Miller of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; three step-daughters: Pataricia Snow of Tekamah, Shelia McGuire of Omaha, and Judy White of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; ten grandchildren; two sisters: Maxine King of Little Rock, Arkansas and Faye Lavonne Randall of Georgia; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Preceding Lea in death were her parents; her first husband, Ernest A. Goertz whom she married in 1943; one son, Kenneth W. Goertz; two grandsons, Kenneth R. and James H. Goertz; two brothers: Rev. Wilton Mills and Pruitt Mills; and one sister, Thelma W. Mills.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13th, 1988 at the Riverside Baptist Church north of Tekamah with Rev. Larry G. Orvis and Rev. Victor Crawford officiating. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
