Services are on Thursday For Fred Nelson

Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington for Fred C. Nelson, 81, who died February 7, 1983, at Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

The Rev. Norman Schroeder is officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery at Kennard.

Fred. C. Nelson was born in Spiker, Nebraska, October 23, 1901, to Peter J. and Carolyn Petersen Nelson. He was baptized in Orum and confirmed at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard.

He lived in Bennington and Omaha before coming to Blair. A truck driver, he worked for Bennington Transfer for 16 years. He also worked for 16 years at Farmers Union.

He married Mable G. Christensen on October 12, 1923, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She survives.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Fred, Jr., and Lyle; four brothers; and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel of Blair; two sons, Milton of Bennington and Ivan of Lakewood, California; and two daughters, LaVonne Lewis of San Bernardino, California; and LaFern Dierks of Fremont. Sixteen grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive him.

Pallbearers will be Sc__ Nelson, Richard Dierks, Douglas Dierks, Thomas Dierks, Martin Nelson, Michael Nelson, Monty Nelson, Merle Nelson and Ron Lewis.

Mariam Sukraw will be organist. Homer Nielsen will provide the music.

Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
