George Nelson Funeral Services Held Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday for George W. Nelson, long-time farmer of the Blair area, who died suddenly last Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Nelson, who was 73 years old, was operating a tractor in a field of his farm and death came suddenly. The Blair Rescue unit was called to assist but he had died prior to his arrival at the hospital.

Mr. Nelson was born July 15, 1895 at Blair. He had lived in the area all of his life and had devoted his life to farming. For many years he had lived on a farm southeast of Blair at the top of a hill which is known to everyone as the “Nelson Hill”. The name has become common place to designate a much-used route into the rural areas southeast of Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, to whom he was married in 1928 at Glenwood, Iowa.

Others surviving are a son and a son and two daughters. The son is Keith A. Nelson, of Millard, Nebraska. The daughters are Miss Carol Nelson, who is at home and Mrs. William Bolln (Joan), of Chadron, Nebraska. There are five grandchildren. A sister, Miss Alta Nelson, lives at Fremont.

Mr. Nelson was a World War I veteran.

Funeral services Tuesday morning were held at the Congregational Church in Blair with the Rev. Leo D. Zillig, of Arlington conducting the service. Burial was made in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Fremont under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home of Blair.

Pallbearers were Ray Anderson, Neal Andreasen, Rueben Kay, Clark Jensen, J.D. Johnson and J.H. Pugh.
