| Gertrude Nelson, 73, passed away on April 28, 1985 at Tekamah Senior Center, and funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 1985 at Campbell Funeral Home in Blair. Rev. Thorvald Hansen will officiate. Pallbearers will be Perry Reif, Robert Brothers, Gary Kochner, John Hineline, Ab Jensen and John Anderson. Burial will be made at Blair Cemetery.
Gertrude was born on June 10, 1911 in Blair to Otto and Lizzie (Christ) Mencke. She was married to Alfred Martin Nelson in March of 1933 in Blair. Her husband preceded Gertrude in death.
After living in Denver since 1948, she moved to Tampa, Florida in 1980, where she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She moved to Tekamah Senior Center in March of 1985.
Survivors include daughter, Patricia Mullins of Tampa, Florida; two granddaughters, Sheryl Lynne Lewis of Addison, Illinois, and Kathleen Anne McCully of Citrus Heights, California; one great-grandchild, Sheena Lynne McCully; mother, Lizzie Mencke of Blair; and eleven sisters, Emma Hartley of Tacoma, Washington; Pearl Anderson of Kennard, Nebraska; Martha Cushman of Newport, Nebraska; Betty Brothers of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Norma Jean Rapp of Benson, Arizona; Delores Kochner of Lincoln, Nebraska; Barbara Aronson of Overland Park, Kansas; and Sophie Hineline, Helen Hineline, Minnie Thaden, and Opal Warrick, all of Blair.
Gertrude was preceded in death by brother, Donald Mencke; a son, Peter James; and by father, Otto Mencke.
