Elwood Grimshaw Baggaley, 84

A masonic memorial service will be held Thursday, November 8, 1990 at the Point Loma Masonic Lodge for Elwood Grimshaw Baggaley, 84 who died October 28, 1990 at Stanford court Nursing Center in Santee, following a long illness. Interment of his ashes was in the family plot at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery in Fort Calhoun.

Elwood G. Baggaley was born November 10, 1905 in Deadwood, South Dakota. He was raised in Deadwood and attended grammar and high school there.

As a young man, he worked with his father in the family business, which included an automobile dealership and garage. In 1942, he moved to San Diego and during the war years worked at Convair.

He later was employed as a driver by the Nuttall-Styris Company and worked there for 30 years. He retired in 1974.

He became a member of the Point Loma Masonic Lodge No. 620 in 1953 and has been their organist since 1958. He received the Hiram Award from the Masonic Lodge in 1982 for outstanding service.

He was a charter member of the Joseph L. Shell Daylight Lodge no 837 A.F. & A. M. and belonged to the Scottish Rite Bodies in San Loma Chapter 490, where he served as Worthy Patron in 1984. He also was a member of the Order of the Amaranth, Starlite Court No. 104 and served as their Royal patron in 1965, 1975, 1979, and 1981.

He is survived by his wife, Vesta W. Walton Baggaley of Santee; and three brothers, John Baggaley of South Dakota and Byron Baggaley and Thad Baggaley, both of Washington.

Beardsley-Mitchell Funeral Home in San Diego had charge of the original arrangements with assistance from Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home.
