Mrs. George Bailey (Mary E.Hopper)

The remains of Mrs. George Bailey, who died Jan. 18 at Bancroft, were met at the North-Western depot, Wednesday by the following named citizens who acted as pall bearers: Fred Claridge, W.C. Walton, John McQuarrie, John McKeen, Lou Lantey and J. F. White.

Mrs. Bailey was an old resident of this city where her husband, George Bailey, was one of the pioneers to embark in the speculation of real estate, insurance, and loans. The deceased came to Cuming County, Nebraska in 1869, where she resided on a farm belonging to her brother, and was married to Mr. Bailey in 1975. Four years ago they moved to Bancroft where their son Arthur resides.

The deceased is survived by her husband, a son, and two brothers: J.J. Hopper of Stanton, and Geo. W. Hopper of Olympia, Washington. Among those who attended the funeral cortage to the Blair Cemetery were, Mrs. Abbie A ward and Mrs. G.C. Teich of Bancroft, Jesse Hopper of Fremont, Mrs. George Hopper and daughter, Evelyn, of Omaha.
