Jeanette F. King, 71

Funeral services for Jeanette F. King, age 71, will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will follow services in the Herman Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday at Campbell Aman Funeral home with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Jeanette died August 5, 2014 at The University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Jeanette King was born on October 20, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska to Jack and Naomi (Erne) Mickel. She was raised in Omaha and attended South High. In 1957 she met Darrell King and the couple was later united in marriage in 1960. The couple lived in rural Blair. Jeanette worked as a bus driver for Blair Community Schools for several years.

Jeanette loved gardening, growing flowers, sewing, knitting and cooking for her family especially for Christmas and Thanksgiving.

She was a long time member of the Craig Methodist Church and was active in many roles including a certified lay speaker, she went on several mission trips and served on the funeral luncheon group. Her family, especially her grandchildren, and her church were the two great loves of her life. She was always known to give a helping hand to anyone in need. She always gave more than she had.

Jeanette is survived by her children; son Mark King of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Darla and husband Ben Scherer of Blair; daughter Peggy and husband Jim Elliott of Bolivar, MO; daughter Paula and husband Leon Gaston of Syracuse, NE; Donald King; grandchildren: Dalton and Dylan King, Justin and Austin Scherer, James Summers and Laurie Evans, Jerron and McKenzie Oltjenbruns; great-grandchildren; Austin and Breanna, Aspen and Aiden; brother, Jack Mickel of Loma Linda, CA; sisters Sally Mickel Graham and husband Rick of Camdenton, MO, Nancy Mickel Bibbee and husband David of Newberg, OR; and special friend Jeanie Hayden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrell King; granddaughter Sierra Elliott; brothers Gerald Mickel, Jesse Mickel and James Mickel; and sisters, Joyce Mickel Taylor and Jackie Mickel Moore.
