Jacob D. Monke, 26

Jacob D. Monke, 26, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at his home in Omaha.

A funeral Mass was held Monday, June 23, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Interment was in the Telbasta Cemetery.

Jacob David Monke was born Sept. 20, 1981 in Fremont to David and Sheila Monke. He was raised in the Fontanelle area and attended Telbasta District 14 until fifth grade, then attended Arlington Public Schools, graduating from Arlington High School in 2000. He attended Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., graduating in 2003. He then moved to Omaha.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.

He is survived by his parents, David and Sheila Monke of Nickerson; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Kevin Kavan of Cedar Bluffs; brother, Adam Monke of Brookings, S.D.; grandparents, Patricia Wipperling of Bellevue, Helen Monke of Fremont, and Dennis Stieren of Arlington.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Monke and Rita Stieren.

Memorials are suggested to the Threshold Program at Lesley University and the Fremont Area Special Olympics.

Dugan Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
