Luther Monke Is Buried on Monday

Funeral services were held Monday, September 14, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fontanelle for Luther Monke, who died September 12, 1981, at Fremont, Nebraska. Rev. Van der Stoep conducted the services.

Luther Monke was born December 1, 1902, at Fontanelle, Nebraska, to Henry and Lena Monke. He married Wilmeth Williams on January 17, 1929.

He was a lifetime active member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle. He graduated from Midland College and was in the Midland Alumni Association for over 50 years. He participated as a charter member in the Nebraska Flying Farmers Organization and was a member of the Arlington Masonic Hiram Lodge #52. He was a past director on the board of the Nickerson Farmers Co-Op and had been active in the Washington County Historical Society in recent years.

One sister, Mrs. Bill (Mae) Bladder of Blair preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Wilmeth Monke; two sons, Bill Monke of Fremont; Bob Monke of Arlington; and two daughters, Mrs. Don (Muriel) Ringle of Fremont and Mrs. Dick (Ruth) Teebken of Fontanelle. Sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive him.

Pallbearers were David Monke, Tom Monke, Jeff Teebken, Jon Ringle, Jim Ringle, Tim Teebken and Jay Ringle.

A memorial has been established for Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle.

Lattin Dugan Chambers were in charge of the funeral arrangements.
