FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR JAMES THALLAS

Funeral services were held Monday, August 4, 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa, for James Franklin Thallas, 47, who died Thursday, July 31, 1980, at an Omaha Hospital after a four month battle with cancer.

Military services were held at graveside. Burial was in Branson Cemetery near Loveland.

James Franklin Thallas was born September 6, 1932, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Gregory and Margaret Foreman Thallas. He was raised in Missouri Valley and attended Missouri Valley High School. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

Until about two years ago, he was a Sales Nutritionist for Standard Chemical in Omaha. About two years ago, he and his family moved to Lakeland Estates near Blair and he assumed the duties of a Sales Manager for Interstate Harvestore.

He is survived by his wife, Lorene Thallas, Blair; four sons, Nicholas, Joseph, Shawn and Shane; four daughters, Shannon, Charise, Ramona, and Mary Beth, all at home. Two brothers, Gus Thallas of El Monte, California, and George Thallas of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four sisters, Freda Pollard, Omaha, Lucille Jones, Bernice Heistand and Dorris Fouts, all of Council Bluffs; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive him.

Hennessey-VanCleave-Hurley in Missouri Valley was in charge of arrangements.
