V. Robert Fankhouser, 73

Services for V. Robert Fankhouser, 73 of Tombstone, Arizona, who died of cancer January 22, 1994 at the Hospice Veterans Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, were held in Tombstone and Tucson this past month.

Burial in Nebraska will be at a later date.

V. Robert Fankhouser was born and raised in Burt County and graduated from Riverside High School in 1937. He spent one year at Camp Shelton.

He served with the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines and received five war medals. He was a member of the American Legion at Tombstone. He was a Nebraska landowner and former grain dealer.

He is survived by a brother, Harry of Blair; two sisters Bonnie Updike of Fremont and Iola Reeves of Colorado; his wife, Elsie Cowell; three children, Wayne of Washington and Linda Zimmerman and John, both of Lincoln and stepchildren, David Olson of Wyoming, Jeffrey Olson of Tekamah and Julie Bogseth of Oakland.
