Ralph G. Theye, 77, of Fremont, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at his home.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Revs. Phillip Vance, Donald Levenhagen, and Michael Meyer officiated. Interment was at the Arlington Cemetery.

Ralph G. Theye was born on Jan. 1, 1923, to George and Mayme (Amack) Theye, on the farm near Bird City, Kan., where he was raised. He worked for several farmers for many years in Kansas and Nebraska.

They moved to Neligh, where he served as police chief for six years. He then moved to Fremont, where he worked for the Campbell Soup plant for 20 years. During that time, he moved to Arlington, and after retiring from Campbell’s, he went to work for the City of Arlington, where he was in charge of the Arlington Auditorium for 16 years.

He later was employed by the Douglas County Landfill for two years. Mr. Meyer (?) moved back to Fremont in 1992.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Fremont Eagles Aerie # 200.

He was married on Dec. 31, 1947 to Rose M. Lynch. She preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1984. He later married Lillian Meier Witthuhn on Feb. 14, 1992, in Orleans.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gail and Carolyn Theye of O’Neill; and Ralph “Bruce” and June Theye of Fremont; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosetta and Wayne Appleby of Craig; Connie and Denny Rowe of Fremont; Debbie and Dave Lange of Brenham, Texas; a daughter, Helen Bradley of Fremont; three step-sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Jacque Witthuhn and Dan and Nancy Witthuhn, all of Fremont; and David and Liz Witthuhn of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a foster daughter, Kathy, and husband James Gibney of Fremont; 19 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Louis Theye of Coby, Kan.; Walter Theye of Lincoln; and George Theye of Hutchinson, Kan.; six sisters, Viola Pyle of Denver, Colo.; Bertha Cullipher of Binghamton, N. Y.; Marie Hicks of Helena, Mont.; Louise Johnson of Orleans; Gertrude Zamey of Binghamton, N. Y.; and Florence Headley of Hanston, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Calvin Theye, and a sister, Geraldine Brown.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and to the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice Program.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
