HYLE E. THIBAULT, 81

(veteran) Hyle E. Thibault, 81, of Omaha, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in Omaha. Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Presbyterian Church of the Master in Omaha. Interment was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Hyle E. “Red” Thibault was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Bancroft.

He and his wife, Martha (Stratbucker) Thibault, started their lives together in Ravenna in 1953, then moved to North Bend in 1954. They lived there for three years before moving to Fremont, and then Lincoln. They had lived in Omaha since 1959.

Mr. Thibault was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Master, and was a past elder; was a member of Omaha American Legion Post No. 1; was a past Commander, and also served in the state offices for the American Legion; and served as the state Finance Officer; was a member of the VFW in Fremont, where he was a past Commander; served as chairman of the Governor’s Veterans Advisory Board in the 1990s; and served as cochair of the Big 8 volleyball championships for five years while they were in Omaha.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and George Schluter; Holly Morgan; and Amy and Stan Shaw, all of Omaha; five grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marge Thibault of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Thibault; sister, Erma Burmester; and brother, Darrell Thibault.

Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Presbyterian Church of the Master building fund.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

VISITATION Wednesday 4 – 7 pm. SERVICES Thursday 10:30 am, all at the Presbyterian Church of the Master. Interment Thursday 2 pm Ft. Calhoun Cemetery. Memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, Presbyterian Church of the Master Building Fund.
