JOACHIM THIELFOLDT

Joachim Thielfoldt was born September 16, 1858, in Schlesweg, Holstein, Germany, and died November 28, 1924, at his home near Herman, so was 66 years, 2 months and 12 days old at the time of his death. He came to the United States in 1883 at the age of 25 years, working in and around Calhoun and Bennington for five years. Then he took up farming with his brother, Charley, on a farm two miles west of Blair.

He was married to Lena Staben in 1888. To this union seven children were born, five boys and two girls, one boy having died in infancy.

In 1897 he moved with his family to his farm nine miles southwest of Herman where he resided at the time of his death.

Besides his wife there is left to mourn his death four sons and two daughters, John, Charley, Harry and Eddie, all of Herman; Mrs. Linberg of Blair, and Mrs. Nels Svendgard of near Arlington and a grandchild. Also three brothers, Henry of Winside, Nebr., Charley of Fairfax, South Dakota and William of Gretna, Neb.

Joachim Thielfoldt was born Sept. 16, 1858 in Schleswig Holstein, Germany. He came to this country in 1883 at the age of twenty-five years and worked in and around Calhoun and Bennington for five years.

He farmed with his brother, Charley, for two years just west of Blair on what is now the Oscar Gilbertson farm.

In 1888 he was married to Lena Staben and to them seven children were born, five boys and two girls. Of these, six children are living, one boy having died in infancy.

In 1897 he moved with his family to a farm which he purchased nine miles southwest of Herman where he resided at the time of his death which occurred last Friday, Nov. 23.

Mr. Thielfoldt was an honest, hardworking, conscientious citizen, always ready to do a good turn to a neighbor and accordingly numbered his friends by the range of his acquaintanceship.

The funeral services were held at the home on last Sunday and interment made in the Blair cemetery where a large number of his friends gathered in mute evidence of the respect they bore him.

Besides the wife, he leaves the four sons and two daughters, John, Charley, Harry and Eddie all of Herman and two daughters, Mrs. Nels Svengaard of near Arlington and Mrs. Nels Lindberg of Blair, also three brothers, Henry of Winside, Nebr., Charley of Fairfax, S. D., and Wm. of Gretna, Nebr. and three grandchildren.

PROSPEROUS FARMER FOUND DEAD IN CRIB BY WIFE

Joachim Thielfoldt, a prosperous Washington county farmer living in the Spiker neighborhood, was found dead in a corn crib by Mrs. Thielfoldt last Friday afternoon and funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, interment being made in the Blair cemetery. Mr. Thielfoldt was a hard-working, industrious farmer and had been suffering from a nervous breakdown for the past several months.

Mr. Thielfoldt was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, September 16, 1858, and was a trifle over sixty six years old. He came to America in 1883 and worked in the Calhoun and Bennington neighborhoods for five years, after which he engaged in farming with his brother, Charlie, two miles west of Blair. In 1888 he was married to Miss Lena Staben, and in 1897 the family moved to a farm nine miles southwest of Herman, where Mr. Thielfoldt died.

Besides the widow, four sons and two daughters are left - John, Charley, Harry and Eddie, all of Herman, Mrs. Nels Lindberg of Blair and Mrs. Nels Svendgaard of near Arlington. There are also three grandchildren and three brothers, Henry of Winside, Charley of Fairfax, So. Dak., and William of Gretna.
