ADOLPH W. THIES

Funeral services for Adolph W. Thies, 65, of Fort Calhoun, who died March 6, 1986 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, were held at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun on March 8, 1986.

Adolph was born July 16, 1920 to William and Minnie Thies in rural Auburn, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at the Hickory Grove Lutheran Church and received his education at Linden School.

He married Maxine Harms at St. Matthews Lutheran Church at Johnson, Nebraska on June 11, 1943. To this union a daughter and a son were born.

Adolph was engaged in farming for many years until moving to Fort Calhoun, where he was associated with Fort Calhoun Stone Company, and later Blair Manufacturing Company. He retired in 1977, due to ill health.

He entered Memorial Community Hospital and was later transferred to Immanuel, where he died. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William J. Theis.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine; daughter, Sharon of Lincoln; son, Gary of North Platte; five sisters, Alvina Thomas of Nemaha, Nebraska; Helen Kuhl of Tecumseh, Nebraska; Minnie Pohlman, Josephine Gerdes and Frances Smith, all of Auburn; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Officiating at the service was Dr. Russell Palmer, with music furnished by Carol Sprick. Pallbearers were Samuel Kuhl, Ronald Pohlman, Richard Conn, Keith Conn, Ronald Schreiner, and Ted Bentley.

Honorary pallbearers were Edward Smith, David Humphrey, Ned Miller, Albert Ohrt, Stavely Wright and Kenneth Deckard. Interment was made in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
