Ella M. Monson, 96

Former Blair resident Ella M. Monson, 96, of Fremont, died Jan. 2, 2003

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services.

Ella Mae Nohrnberg was born Feb. 24, 1906, in Blair to J. William and Pauline (Jansen) Nohrnberg. She attended Blair Schools and graduated from Blair High School on May 29, 1924.

After graduating with a teaching certificate, she taught grades 1 through 8 for two years at Garryowen School, Dist. No. 9, near Florence.

On June 8, 1927, she married Ernest Monson. The couple lived in rural Kennard until 1938, then moved to rural Blair where they farmed until retiring in the early 1970s. The couple moved to Fremont in June, 1990.

Mrs. Monson enjoyed baking, gardening and crocheting.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Cherie Schulz; three granddaughters, Denise (Mrs. David) Patterson, Jennifer Monson, and Alison Monson; and one grandson, John Monson; and three great-grandchildren, all of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; a son, John E. Monson; two sisters, Minnie Williamsen and Wilma Nohrnberg, and one brother, Robert Nohrnberg.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
