Services For Elmer Monson Thursday, Aug. 25

Services for Elmer Monson will be Thursday, August 25th at 2:00 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church at Blair. Mr. Monson died on Monday, August 22, 1977 following a lengthy illness.

Rev. Robert Albers and Rev. John Peterson will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

Elmer John Monson was born February 18, 1907 to John Monson and his wife Christine near Kennard, Nebraska.

He was baptized into the Christian faith in the Emmaus Lutheran Church at Kennard, Nebr. He later confirmed that Faith in the rite of confirmation on April 23, 1922.

He was graduated from Kennard High School in 1925. On February 18, 1933 he was untied in marriage with Bernett Matz. To this union was born one daughter Beverly. In 1945 the Monson family moved to a farm south of Blair where Elmer resided until his death on Aug. 22, 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Monson, two brothers Albert and Martin, and two sisters Mrs. Charles (Ellen) Johnson, and Mrs. Esther Bohs.

Elmer was active in the first Lutheran Church at Blair where he served on the church council. He was also a member of the Good Shepherd Home Board. During his lifetime he was engaged in the bee business. He also raised purebred hogs.

Left to mourn are his wife Bernett, their daughter Beverly and her husband Gordon Soderberg of Blair; and three grandchildren, Scott, Kimberly and Troy.

Also surviving him are two brothers, Carl and Ernest and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Andreasen and Mrs. Wm. (Emma) Farnberg, all of Blair.

Pall bearers will be: John Andreasen, Lyle Bohs, Valdemars Deklaus, Jim Farnberg, Jim Martin, and Keith Vinton.
