Albert M. Montgomery, 86

Services for Albert M. Montgomery, 86 of Arlington who died October 3, 1992 at Arbor Manor in Fremont were Thursday, October 8 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rev. Michael L. Rogers officiated. Burial was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery north of Arlington.

Albert M. Montgomery was born April 7, 1906 in New Washington, Indiana. He was raised in the New Washington area. From 1928 to 1930, he worked at several locations around the Midwest. In 1930 he moved to the Arlington area and farmed north of Arlington until his retirement. He moved into Arlington in 1985.

He was a member of Lutheran Laymen’s League.

He married Alice Echtenkamp February 27, 1931 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Minnie Wilkeson Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; a son and daughter-in-law, Dallas G. and Donna Montgomery of Arlington; a sister, Ethel Tollefson of Scottsburg, Indiana; four grandchildren and one grandchild’s spouse, Cheryl Montgomery of Fremont, Dennis and Carla Purkey and Colette Montgomery, all of Arlington and Nikki Montgomery of Palo Alto, California; and one great-grandchild, Erin Montgomery of Fremont.

Pallbearers were Darrell Laaker, Duane Laaker, Bob Dorfmeyer, Seven Marshall, Orvin Scheer and Ronald Hilgenkamp.

Helen Hilgenkamp was organist.

Memorials may go to the Arlington Volunteer Rescue Squad.

ALBERT MELVIN MONTGOMERY

Albert Melvin Montgomery, the son of Carl and Minnie (Wilkerson) Montgomery, was born April 7, 1906 at New Washington, Indiana. He was raised in the New Washington area until approximately 1928 when he began working in several locations in the Midwest. In 1930 he settled in the Arlington area and farmed north of Arlington until his retirement in 1979. He moved into Arlington in 1985. In November of 1990, he became a resident of the Arbor Manor Nursing Home in Fremont.

Albert was baptized at the Sharon Hill Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Indiana. He was confirmed into the Lutheran faith on July 4, 1931 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington, by Pastor G. W. Wolter. He is a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a former member of the Lutheran Laymens League. He married Alice Echtenkamp on February 22, 1931 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, at Arlington.

Albert passed from this life on Saturday, October 3, 1992, at Arbor Manor in Fremont, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 26 days. He is survived by his wife, Alice; son and daughter-in-law, Dallas G. and Donna Montgomery of Arlington; a sister Ethel Tollefson of Scottsburg, Indiana; grandchildren, Cheryl Montgomery of Fremont, Dennis and Carla Purkey and Colette Montgomery all of Arlington, and Nikki Montgomery of Palo Alto, California; and a great granddaughter, Erin Montgomery of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
