MRS. GEO. THOMAS DIES SUDDENLY

FORMER BLAIR RESIDENT IS ILL BUT TWO DAYS IN OMAHA HOSPITAL

Mrs. George Thomas, of Tekamah, passed away at an Omaha hospital on last Sunday, November 18 following an illness of but two days duration of acute pneumonia.

Martha Mayle Thomas was born in Blair September 3, 1886 to Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Mayle and grew to womanhood in this city where most of her life was spent. She was married to George P. Thomas in Lincoln on February 21, 1927 and returned to Blair where both were employed.

Mrs. Thomas was a woman of more than ordinary ability and with a heart for every one. She was of a bright cheerful disposition and sympathetic for those in distress and she had a world of friends who had been drawn to her through her kindly interest which she showed. Always ready to lend a helping hand or a word of cheer, she made for herself a place in the hearts of her friends that can never be filled and weak words fail to express her virtues.

Besides the husband she leaves her mother, Mrs. Martha J. Noble, who is at the present time at Boise, Idaho, and three sisters, Mrs. F. G. Hoffman of Caldwell, Idaho; Mrs. M. R. Lippincott, Blair; and Mrs. A. J. Tompkins, Boise City, Idaho and one brother, Fred of Blair.

Funeral services were held at 10 o’clock a.m. Tuesday, November 20, at the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. William J. H. Petter, Episcopal clergyman, of Plattsmouth officiating and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Thus ends the career of another native of Blair, one who had grown from childhood in our midst and who lived a life not alone for herself but was big enough to reach out and extend sympathy and lend a helping hand to her friends in dire need. What more can mortal do?
