Former Blair resident Cecil W. Thomlinson Sr., 57, of Springfield, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, in Springfield.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 8, at Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at White Chapel in Springfield, with interment in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Cecil W. Thomlinson Sr. was born May 22, 1948, in North Platte to Delmar Earl and Ellen Lorene (Pratt) Thomlinson. He was a 1967 graduate of Blair High School. He was in the United States Air Force, served his country during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1973.

For more than 20 years, he worked for State Farm Insurance. During his free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson with his brothers and also with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed guns and hunting. He was proud of being a Vietnam veteran. He was a good-hearted man who made friends easily.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diana; a son, Cecil W. Thomlinson Jr.; a daughter, Jessica Del, all of Illinois; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Delmar L. and Twila Thomlinson of Sun City, Ariz.; and Gene and Judy Thomlinson of Springfield; one grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Thomlinson.

In his honor, a memorial has been established for Community Hospice of America, 1465 East Primrose, Springfield, MO 68504.
