ELTON L. “E. T.” THOMPSON, 72

Elton L. Thompson, 72, of Blair, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Campbell-Aman Funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Elton L. “E. T.” Thompson was born Dec. 5, 1933, in Blair to Neil and Selma (Anderson) Thompson. He was a graduate of Blair High School, and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On May 5, 1957, he married Judy Rasmussen.

He began his career at Rounds Super Service and later owned the Blair Texaco and Standard Oil stations. He also owned and operated a wrecker service. After retiring from the wrecker service, he worked at Ace Hardware and mowed the soccer fields at the Blair Youth Sports Complex.

He was a past member of the Blair Fire and Rescue Squads; member of the Masonic Lodge, Mo-Ri Shrine, and Blair American Legion.

He had a love for old cars and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Blair; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Anne of Blair; and Curt and Mindy of Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bob Dahl of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Ron Jensen, Nila Matzen, Alice and Albert Madsen, all of Blair; and brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Arlene Thompson of Wadena, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robbie; brother, Harley; and sister, Mildred.

Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church of Blair.
