EARL W. “EARLIE” THOMPSON, 80

The funeral for Earlie Thompson, age 80 who died at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair September 10, 1992 after suffering an apparent stroke were Monday, September 14 at First Christian Church with burial in the Blair Cemetery.

Earl W. Thompson was born at Herman, Nebraska May 19, 1912, to Earl C. and Emma Andersen Thompson. He attended country schools in the rural Herman area.

He moved to rural Blair in the 1940s and farmed with his father on the family farm, where he resided at the time of his death.

His talent and ability to play his fiddle, accordion and harmonica was enjoyed by many people in the Blair area. Among the many places he entertained was Good Shepherd Home, Crowell Memorial Home and McDonald’s Restaurant. For the last 15 years, he enjoyed playing Santa Claus during the Christmas season.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Calvin and infant twin brothers, Merle Lester and Lyle Chester.

He is survived by one brother, Carroll Thompson and three sisters, Meta Matzen, Annie Breithaupt and Daisey Williby, all of Blair and many nephews and nieces.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
