EMMA THOMPSON DIED AT HOSPITAL THURS., OCTOBER 23

Mrs. Emma Elisa Thompson, a life-long resident of the Spiker area northwest of Blair, died last Thursday, October 23rd at the Blair Hospital. She was 88 years of age, having been born at Spiker February 3, 1887.

She and her husband, the late Earl Thompson were married February 3, 1909 and the couple devoted their time to farming. At the time of her last illness, Mrs. Thompson was living with her son, Earl, still in the Spiker neighborhood which had been her lifetime home.

She is survived by three sons, Earl W. and Carroll, both of Blair and by Calvin Thompson of St. Paul, Nebraska.

There are three daughters, Mrs. Annie Breithaaupt and Mrs. Daisy Williby and Mrs. Meta Matzen, all of Blair. There are 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

There are three brothers, Pete Andersen and Chris Andersen, of Herman and Carl Andersen of Blair. Two sisters also live at Blair, Annie Wolsmann and Lulu Wolsmann.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church in Blair last Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Ray E. Phelps conducted the service and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

The Pallbearers were the three sons, Earl, Carroll and Calvin, Joe Breithaupt, Duane Matzen and Robert Williby. Grandsons of Mrs. Thompson served as honorary pallbearers.
