Ernest Mohr Buried In Mt. Hope Cemetery

Ernest Albert Mohr, son of Karl and Catherine Mohr, was born March 31, 1889 in Germany. He passed away in the Blair Hospital Wednesday, January 5, 1972 at the age of 82 years.

Ernest was baptized in the Christian Faith and confirmed as a youth while still in Germany. He was a member, faithfully supporting and communing, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington.

He came to America in 1905 from Germany. He settled near Bennington. In 1915 he was united in marriage to Minnie Berner at Omaha, Nebraska. The couple set up farming in the Wranch School District. They lived there on the farm for 40 years.

Three children were born to this union.

In 1955 Ernest and Minnie retired from the farm and moved to 1501 Butler Street in Blair. They observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary with an open house at St. John’s in 1965.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Annie; and 3 brothers, John, Karl and Claus.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie; one daughter, Helen, two sons, William and Robert of Omaha; nine grandchildren; one brother, George of Holdrege, Nebraska; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Sruvve of Germany; other relatives and many friends.

Services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church Saturday, January 8, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Norman Schroeder officiating. Mrs. Henry Kniep was the organist and Ken Sukraw was the vocalist.

Pallbearers were Paul Lambrecht, Chris Iversen, Harvey Hansen, Henry Rohwer, George Steinert and Harold Ortmeier.

Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Hadan-Golden Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
