CHARLOTTE M. PACE, 79

Monday, February 19, 2007 – Charlotte M. Pace, 79 of Ralston, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. For more than 14 (should be 15) years she had fought a courageous battle with afflictions that sometimes follow a victory over cancer.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 14, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ralston. Her body was cremated.

Charlotte Maurine Hunsche was born January 6, 1928, in Butler County in the Ulysses area to Henry and Irene (Anderson) Hunsche. They lived in Butler County until December 1941, when the family moved to Washington County, where her father was a farm hand. She graduated from Herman High School in 1946, and began working for Mutual of Omaha.

During the fall of 1946, she began dating Earl M. Pace, whose family had also moved from Butler County to Washington County in the 40’s. After he finished his tours of duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, they were married on June 4, 1949 and the couple lived in Blair, where they raised their son and daughter.

She will be remembered for her fabulous skills as a seamstress and as an administrative secretary in an insurance agency and schools in the Ralston and Blair area. Her last position was at ESU #3 in Omaha.

She loved to travel to educational conventions with her husband, who was principal at Blair until 1966, when they moved to Ralston. There, he held the same position for three years before becoming the Assistant Superintendent of Business.

They retired in 1988, and spent their winters in Arizona. The couple were members of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ralston.

She is survived by her husband, Earl M. Pace of Ralston; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Greg Nabity of Wahoo; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Nikki Pace of Ralston four grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Warren “Bud” and Pat Hunsche of Blair; sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Bob Christensen of Arvada, Colorado; sister-in-law, Jean Pace, Blair; uncles and aunts, Burdette and Millie Anderson of Seattle, Washington, and Mildred Anderson of Wood River.
