MARY JEAN THOMPSON, 85

Former Burt County resident Jean (Dorn) Thompson, 85, of Raynham, Mass., died Nov. 17, 2005, at a hospital near Boston, Mass. Funeral services were Nov. 21, at Prophet Funeral Home in Bridgewater, Mass.

Mary Jean Dorn was born Dec. 7, 1919, to Lewis and Violet (Moore) Dorn. She attended rural grade schools in Burt County before graduating from Tekamah High School in 1939. She attended Wayne State College for one year.

On July 4, 1942, she married Lowell Thompson of Ottumwa, Iowa, at a Methodist church in Omaha. The couple moved to Boston shortly thereafter.

Mrs. Thompson was remembered as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who loved flowers. She also enjoyed giving gifts and giving tours of historic Boston, Plymouth Rock and Cape Cod areas.

She is survived by her three children and their families, Larry and Lynda Thompson, Fred and Marcia Thompson, and Sharon and Steven Ferreiro; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet and J. D. Little of Marshfield, Mo.; Virginia and Ray Simpson of Craig; and Elaine and Lloyd Warren of Blair; brother, George Dorn of Grand Island; and sisters-in-law, Amy Dorn of Tekamah and Wanda Dorn of California; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, in 1995; a sister, Margaret Hansen; brothers, Bud, Bill and John Dorn; sisters-in-law, Joan Dorn and Rene Dorn; brothers-in-law, Raymond Hansen, Jim Davis and Cecil Davis.
