Mrs. Mary Thompson, widow of the late James S. Thompson, died at Crowell Memorial Home last Friday, July 10th. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Thompson had been making her home at the Crowell Home since last October. She was a native of the McCarthy community south of Blair, having been born there and having spent most of her life in that area.

Following her husband’s death, Mrs. Thompson left the farm and worked for several years at Boys’ Town and also at the Douglas County Hospital.

She was housekeeper for a time for Monsignor Flanagan and his assistant priests at Holy Angel’s Parish in Omaha. After the Monsignor’s death, she went to Plainview, Nebraska to work for Father Kenny. She remained there until she retired and moved to Blair.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by two sons and two daughters. The sons are Bernard of Kennard and James of Omaha. The daughters are Eileen (Mrs. Jerry Jordan) of Arlington, and Margaret (Mrs. Charles Appel) of Blair. There are 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Four brothers survive. They are Joe Barry of Stanwood, Washington; James Barry of Anaheim, California; John Barry of Blair and Charles Barry of Omaha.

Rosary was held at the Campbell Mortuary at 8:30 P.M. Monday evening. Funeral services followed on Tuesday morning at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair with Father Daniel Brick offering mass. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery at Blair.
