Mrs. Joe Thompson died out at the Soldier’s Home at Burkett, Neb., at 3 o’clock last Saturday morning and the body was brought here Monday and the funeral held at the Baptist church at 2 o’clock, Rev. C. M. Foreman officiating. Mrs. Thompson had been at her home here until about a month ago, when she returned to the Home for the winter, she having been a resident there for about four years. She was 78 years old the 7th of last August and death was the result of old age. Olive Brown was born in Nova Scotia, Canada and came to this country when a young girl. She was married to Joseph Thompson in Benton county, Ia., in 1860 and six children were born to them, only one of whom, Frank, of Seneca, Neb., survives. Also only one grandson, Merton, of whom Mrs. Thompson was especially fond, and he was at her bedside when the end came. Mrs. Thompson was a sister of the late Duane Brown, of this city, whose death occurred about a year ago. Her husband died the 11th of last March. She was a member of the Baptist church here and also of the W. R. C. The latter order held their burial service at the church at the close of the service by Rev. Mr. Foreman. O. Merica and wife, Mrs. Louie Styers and Elmer Michelsen and wife came up from Florence to attend the funeral service.

OBITUARY - - - The body of Mrs. Joseph Thompson of Burkett, Neb., arrived in Blair on Sunday and funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. Foreman officiating. Mrs. Thompson left Blair a short time ago to live at the Soldiers’ Home, her husband having passed away over a year ago.

Olive Brown was born in Nova Scotia seventy-eight years ago last August and was married to Joseph Thompson in Benton County, Iowa, in 1860. Six children were born to them, all of whom are dead excepting one son, Frank, who lives in the western part of the state.

She leaves also one grandson, Merton Thompson. Interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
