Elmer Mordhorst, for many years a resident of Washington county, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha Wednesday, June 6th. He had been in failing health for some time.

Elmer Hans Mordhorst was born January 9, 1913 at Bennington. He attended school at the Dornacker rural school in Washington county in which district his parents lived.

He entered the armed forces in 1942 and was stationed in India. In January, 1946 he received an honorable discharge but in January, 1951, during the Korean conflict, he re-entered the service and was stationed at Fort Harrison, Indiana.

After leaving the service in August, 1951 he moved with his parents to Omaha which was his home at the time of his death.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mordhorst, four brothers, Alfred, Edwin, Walter and Emmett of Omaha, and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Peetz, of Irvington and Mrs. Anna Marie Rix, of Bennington. There are also three nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9th from the Roeder Mortuary in Omaha and interment was made in the Mordhorst family lot in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.

Pallbearers were Hans Sass, Clarence L. Paulsen, Claus H. Wrich, Donald J. Gottsch, Herman Meeves and Arthur F. Dornacker.
