Fred Mordhorst Died In Omaha November 16th

Fred Mordhorst, for many years a farmer in the Dornacker School district in the south part of Washington County, died earlier this month in Omaha. He retired from farming in 1953 and moved to Omaha where he has since made his home.

Fred August Mordhorst was born on April 4, 19882 the son of John and Catherine Mordhorst, in Sorp, Schleswig, Germany. He passed away on November 16, 1970 at the age of 88. He came to America at the age of eleven, and received his United States citizenship papers on September 24, 1906.

He was united in marriage to Emilie Meeves at Bennington, on February 28, 1912. To this union was born seven children, 2 daughters and 5 sons. On February 28, 1962, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

He was confirmed and baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bennington, Nebraska. Upon retirement in 1961, he and his wife joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Omaha.

He was preceded in death by one son Elmer, in 1962 and one brother and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife Emilie, four sons, Alfred, Edwin, Walter, and Emmet all of Omaha, two daughters Mrs. Marvin Peetz (Dorothy) of Omaha and Mrs. Arnold Rix (Anna Marie) of Bennington, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Interment was made in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.
