Margaret Morehouse, 80

Funeral services for Margaret Morehouse, 80, who died March 4, 1990 after suffering a heart attack, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. James McBride officiating. Burial will be in the Tekamah, Nebraska cemetery at 3:30 p.m.

An Eastern Star Service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home with the Tekamah Chapter No. 131 in charge.

Margaret Elizabeth Morehouse was born at Tekamah, Nebraska, on May 5, 1909, the daughter of Raymond and Carrie Matthews Morehouse. For a time her family lived at Blair where Margaret attended grade school. Then her family returned to Tekamah, where Margaret graduated from the Tekamah High School.

She attended Wayne State Teachers College and entered the teaching profession. She taught at Decatur and Fremont, Nebraska, at Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and at Elmhurst and River Forest, Illinois.

In 1976, Margaret and her friend, Catharina Hoelscher, moved to Blair. Margaret enjoyed being a member of the Blair Federated Woman’s Club and attended the First Lutheran Church.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and William J. Koopman Sr. of Spruce Pine, North Carolina; three nephews and their families; Dr. William J. Koopman and family, Helena, Alabama; Steven Koopman, Houston, Texas and John Koopman and family of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania. Also surviving is her friend and companion of many years, Catharina Hoelscher of Blair.

Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
