Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19 at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun for Percy L. Thompson, 82 who died July 16, 1995 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home.

Percy L. Thompson was born February 17, 1913 at St. Aubert, Missouri to Clate and Katie Thompson.

He started working with the government on the Missouri River at the age of 16 with his father. He came to Blair in 1934 with the river work and spent many years working on the river. He also did yard work while living in Blair.

He was sent to Canada during World War II with the Marine operators. While there, he received a Certificate of Merit award for saving a barge loaded with ammunition for the United States.

He lived in Blair until 1972 when he moved to DeSoto. He lived there until he went to a nursing home, first at Crowell Memorial Home and then in Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie Nichols; and a brother, Lawney Thompson.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Sylvia Thompson; a sister and brother-in-law, Verllie and Carl Feltes of Leslie, Missouri; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
