VERNON C. THOMPSON, 78

Private graveside services were held Tuesday, November 13 at Arlington Cemetery for Vernon C. Thompson, Arlington, who died November 11, 1990 at his Arlington home. Rev. Don Cassiday of Arlington Community Church officiated.

Vernon C. Thompson was born March 20, 1912 in rural Arlington, the son of James and M. Rosina Loosing Thompson. He married Dorothy Masters June 7, 1933 at Arlington.

He farmed near Arlington until 1962 when he retired from farming. He sold feed for Mooreman Feed Company until 1975. He moved into Arlington in 1966.

He was a member of Arlington Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Vivian Potter; and two brothers, Laurence Thompson and Leonard Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Lyle Thompson of Mound City, Missouri and Duane Thompson of Arlington; one daughter, Vivian (Mrs. Bobbie) Gorman, Marion, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Edna Klein, Madison, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research or to the Arlington Rescue Squad.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
