Mrs. Morrison Rites Are Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura L. Morrison of 535 No. 19th Street, Blair will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, July 29, 1966 at the Lutheran Church in Tekamah, Nebraska. Burial will be in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Mrs. Morrison was the mother of Miss Muriel Morrison and Mrs. Wm. Rutledge both of Blair.

Mrs. Morrison Buried Friday

Laura L. Hampton was born September 26, 1875 in Johnson County, Missouri to Martha Hamilton Hampton and Lorenzo Hampton. She died at the Blair Hospital July 26, 1966 at the age of 90 years.

She was married to George W. Morrison December 16, 1897 in Johnson County, Missouri. To this union was born 8 children. She came to Burt County in a covered wagon with her husband and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Hampton and family from Johnson County, Missouri, November 6, 1899, settling near Tekamah. She lived in and around Tekamah until 1941. At that time she went to Blair and has since made her home with her daughter Muriel Morrison until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W., a son Roy B. and a daughter, Goldie Nelson.

Surviving are her children: Mrs. Fred (Ruby) Welch, Corpus Christi, Texas Mrs. Wm. (Mildred) Rutledge, Blair, Nebr., and Muriel J. Morrison of Blair; Jay A. Morrison, Springfield, Nebr.; Mrs. Ella M. Ackerman of Tekamah, Nebr., William L. Morrison of Lincoln, Nebr. One brother: Ora Hampton, Warrensburg, Missouri; one sister, Lissie Shafer, Burwell, Nebr.; also 32 grandchildren and 76 great-grandchildren.

Although her eyesight and hearing had been failing for many years, “Grandma” Morrison, as she was intimately known by friends and family, was a lover of flowers and little children. Nothing pleased her more than having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to visit her often.

Funeral services were at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah on Friday July 29th. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery.
