Services for Mary S. Bartling, 95 of Fremont, who died March 22, 1993 at Arbor Manor in Fremont, are 10:30AM Thursday, March 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Donald Levenhagen is officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Mary S. Bartling was born September 4, 1897 in rural Herman. She grew up on the family farm near Herman and moved to Fremont in 1937. She had lived at Arbor Manor in Fremont since 1983.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont and was active in the women’s organizations of the church and the church choir.

She operated the elevator at the former Stephens Building from 1937 until the elevator was automated in the 1950s. She worked at the former Woolworth Dime Store in Fremont and Schweser’s Department Store until the late 1970s.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Maria Siebuhr Bartling; brothers, Bernard, Adolph, Henry, Richard, Lois and Fritz and sisters, Lena Mueller and Elizabeth Bartling.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Edna Bartling of Fremont and Hulda Bartling of Hooper, and 17 nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Harvey Bartling, Victor Bartling, Donald Bartling, Allen Mueller, Willis Mueller and Orlando Mueller.

Gregory Johnson will be organist and soloist.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor’s favorite charity.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
