Ruth Bartling, 92, of Fremont, died Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Edgewood Vista in Fremont.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 29 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment was in Fremont’s Memorial Cemetery.

Ruth Moeller was born Oct, 27, 1914, on the farm near Nickerson to H. William and Louise (Hoegermeyer) Moeller. She attended School District 20 of Nickerson. In her 8th grade year, she moved with her family to Fremont. She graduated from Fremont High school in 1932 and worked for Woolworth Dime store in downtown Fremont.

On Oct 27, 1935, she married Leonard H. Bartling in Fremont. They farmed north of Ames, then, in 1941 moved to a farm in the New England School area, west of Herman. In 1947, the moved to the family farm in the Immanuel/Hooper area. In 1999, the couple moved into Fremont and lived at Nye Court. For the past two years Mrs. Bartling has lived in Edgewood Vista.

Mrs. Bartling was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Hooper, where she was active in the sewing groups, Bible study, and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She most recently was member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fremont.

She was a past member of the New England Club and the Jolly Friendship Club. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts, playing cards and her family.

She is survived; by three daughters and sons-in-law. Marilyn and Gerald Bohling, Sharon and Lois Thernes and Donna and John Kriete, all of Hooper; son Wayne Bartling of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Marie Bartling of Fremont; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Bartling and Helen Moeller, both of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in April 2001: a grandson, Danny Thernes; four sisters and three brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
