SCOTT (W. SCOTT) THOMPSON

W. Scott Thompson was born to John and Hannah Thompson, May 17, 1871, on the farm south of Arlington where he grew to manhood, and where he spent his entire life, with the exception of the last three months of his illness, which were spent in the home of his sister, Mrs. Charles Fagg.

Scott Thompson, as he was known to everyone in the community, had been in failing health for nearly a year, but was able to be up about the home most of the time.

Following the death of his parents, he was associated with his brother Jim in extensive farming until the death of his brother a number of years ago. Since then, he followed the same occupation in pardnership with his nephews, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson: Vernon Thompson being the nephew to occupy the home place at the present time.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Charles Fagg, and one brother, John Thompson of Philadelphia, Penn.; four nephews and three nieces; his sister, Mrs. Jessie Burke of Salt Lake City, preceded him in death only the day before Thanksgiving. There were also three other members of his immediate family who preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted at the Reckmeyer Funeral Home at 1:30 and at the Congregational church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, December 9th with Rev. David Simpson assisted by Rev. Harold J. Lorimer. Rev. Simpson, Rev. Lorimer, W. A. Reckmeyer and Therlo Reckmeyer composed the quartet who sang.

Pallbearers were nephews, Leonard, Lawrence and Vernon Thompson; P.J. Christensen; James Keenan; and Martin Hilgenkamp. Burial took place in the Arlington cemetery with Wm. Reckmeyer & Son in charge.
