Harry Nelson, Lifetime Resident, Died Wednesday

Harry Nelson, a lifetime resident of Washington County, died early Wednesday at Memorial Community Hospital. He was 79 years old. The Nelsons lived at 712 North 15th Street.

He was born November 3, 1891 in Washington County and devoted his entire life to farming. With the exception of one brief period when he lived in Dixon County, Nebraska, he spent his entire life in Washington County.

He was married to Pearl Mathiesen on February 28th, 1917 at Blair.

He is survived by his wife and by a daughter, Betty, who is Mrs. Ray Sonderup of Blair. There are three granddaughters.

Two sisters survive: Mrs. Minnie Gibbs of Sioux City and Mrs. Lillie Cardwell of Auburn, Washington. He is also survived by two brothers: Elmer Nelson of Homer, Nebraska and Lester Nelson of San Diego, California.

In 1968 the couple retired and moved to Blair and their home on North 15th. Street.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Blair. The Rev. John Bauserman will conduct the service. Burial, under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral Home will be made in the Blair cemetery.

Nephews will be pallbearers. They will be Lynn Jensen, Rolland Nelson, Vernon Mathiesen, Vernon Christopherson, Alvin Baker and Ray Wilson.
