Hazel Nelson Is Buried At Blair

Private family services were held Thursday, April 2, for Hazel McBride Nelson, 84, of Fremont who died Monday, March 10, 1981, at an Omaha Hospital. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.

Hazel McBride Nelson was born October, 9, 1896, in David City, where she was raised and graduated from high school. She was a graduate of Clarkson Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County after moving to Fremont in 1950. She also operated nursing homes in Fremont and Blair.

She married Charles McBride at Blair in 1921. He died in 1939.

In 1957, she married David Nelson in Omaha. He preceded her in death in 1965.

She was a member of First Christian Church. She was also past president of Business and Professional Women’s Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Kathleen) Stump, Donavan; Mrs. Arnold (Pauline) Matzen, Kennard; and Mrs. Wayne (Beverly) Fisher, Rogers, Arkansas; and two sons, Fredrick McBride, Commerce City, Colorado, and Charles McBride, Tekamah. Fifteen grand-children and 26 great-grandchildren also survive her.

A memorial fund has been established for the Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home in Fremont was in charge of arrangements for the services.
