Herbert E. Nelson Died Tuesday At Omaha Hospital

Herbert E. Nelson, a long-time businessman, died Tuesday afternoon at the Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. He had suffered from cancer for more than a year.

Mr. Nelson was co-owner and manager of the Hancock Farm Equipment Company at Blair.

During the years he lived in Blair he showed an interest in a number of civic activities. He was a former member of the Blair School Board and a member of the Blair City Council. At the time of his death he was a member of the Blair Planning Commission. He was also a member of the Blair Rotary Club.

He was born at Ceresco, Nebraska, April 4, 1910 and was 66 years of age at his death.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline and by two sons, Michael Nelson and Robert Nelson, both of Omaha. There are four grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Omer (Florence) Rung, of Lincoln; Mrs. Walter (Vera) Oberg of Waverly, Nebraska; and Mrs. John (Genevieve) Riedel, also of Lincoln. The brothers are Clarence and Vernon Nelson, both of Lincoln.

Prayer and Rosary service will be held this evening (Thursday) at 8:00 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home and Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., Friday morning. Burial will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery at Blair.

The pallbearers will be Ray Kruse, Ivan Larsen, Don Myers, Kenneth Radler, Harold Land and J. Harold Paulsen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Olson, John Christopher, Mike Christopher, Dr. Leslie Grace, Alfred O. Sick and Walter Petersen.

The family has asked that memorials be directed to the Cancer Foundation or to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.
