CARROLL THORNBURGH DIES AT THE AGE OF 76

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 11th, for 76 year old Carroll Thornburgh of 1723 Grant Street in Blair. Mr. Thornburgh died on Wednesday, August 8th, 1979 at the Blair Memorial Community Hospital.

Services were held at the First Methodist Church in Blair with Rev. Gordon Patterson and Rev. Robert Bee officiating. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Thornburgh was born at Greenville, Missouri on November 22, 1902. He married the former Newell Hillman. Mrs. Thornburgh survives him along with three children, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one sister.

The children are: George Thornburgh, Corvallis, Oregon; Alma Van Skiver, Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Brunk of Fremont. The sister is Mrs. Emma Long of Long Beach, California.

Mr. Thornburgh was in the grocery business in Blair for many years. He also was in the retail paint and appliance business before his retirement many years ago. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Memorials may be designated to the Shriner Crippled Childrens Hospital in Mr. Thornburgh’s name.

Pallbearers were: John Brown, Gerald Lemon, Les Bucklin, Gene Thomas, Elmer Anderson and Stuart Maurer.

CARROLL THORNBURGH DIES WEDNESDAY AT BLAIR HOSPITAL

Services will be Saturday, August 11, at First Methodist Church in Blair for Carroll Thornburgh of 1723 Grant Street in Blair who died Wednesday, August 8, at the Blair Hospital.

Mr. Thornburgh was a former downtown businessman. He owned a grocery store in the downtown business district at one time.
