Andrew Jaspersen was taken to the hospital at Omaha to undergo an operation for pus on the brain. We heard on the streets yesterday that the operation had been performed and that the doctors found water on the brain and that Mr. Jasperson would soon be home with his family and everybody will be glad.

Andrew Jeppesen Answered Call

It is with hearts subdued, and feelings of profoundest sympathy for the bereaved family that we are gathered here this afternoon, to give Christian burial to the mortal remains of our well-known and highly esteemed fellow citizen, Andrew E. Jeppesen, who entered upon this life October 1st, 1878, and fell asleep in death in St. Joseph’s hospital, Omaha October 17th, 1908, aged 30 years and 16 days. A man of splendid physique, robust constitution; excellent health with apparently a strong hold on life, up to the beginning of July this year, when it became known that he was seriously afflicted. Since then everything the best medical skill could advise, or loving hearts and hands do, has been done against the disease a hard battle was fought. But today a loving wife, five children, an aged father and mother, one sister, with many relatives, friends, and neighbors mourn and weep his early translation to the life beyond the tomb.

In early life Mr. Meppersen was baptized and confirmed in the faith and priveleges of the gospel of Jesus Christ, by the Lutheran church; and from that ever precious gospel we today draw that comfort and consolation; and rest our hopes for the better life which enables us to sorrow not, even as others who have no hope for Jesus Christ, the world’s Redeemer has spoken saying, I am the Resurrrection and the Life, whosoever believeth in me shall never die. To the home under the shadow of this sore bereavement of husband and father.

This aged father and mother with the sister under the sense of great personal loss of only son and brother, we extend our profoundest sympathy and pray that in this dark hour, the light of God’s love may beam upon your hearts, and that your souls may be filled with sweet, sufficient, sustaining grace.

Multitudes which non can number, Like the stars in glory stand, Clothed in white apparel, holding Palms of victory in their hands. A.J.W.

The funeral services were held at the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. A. J. Warne officiating and paying a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased. The casket was covered with the most beautiful floral designs loving fingers ever wrought. The music rendered was such as to soften all hearts and moisten all eyes. At the close of the services one of the largest funeral processions ever witnessed in Kennard followed the funeral car to our silent city.

Card of Thanks – Words cannot express the sense of gratitude we have for Dr. Pruner, Mr. A. F. Schafe, M. E. choir, the pastor and many friends for floral offerings and all those who tendered so freely their valuable aid and sympathy in the sickness and death of our dear one.

Mrs. A. E. Jeppesen and family.
